Leonor Benedetto (Paraná, Entre Ríos; October 30, 1941) is an Argentine television and theatre actress who also ventured into television hosting and film direction.
Career
He finished high school earlier than usual and began studying philosophy and medicine, which he abandoned after a year and a half, hiding from his father that he had left university, changing them for his great passion, acting, and beginning to study in the conservatory. She while she had her first daughter.
Her most remembered role is that of Rosa in the telenovela Rosa… de Lejos (1980). This novel co-starred with Juan Carlos Dual and Pablo Alarcón and was broadcast in many countries in America and Italy.
In 1981, she recorded a full-length album called “Leonor Benedetto” with ten songs. She starred in the ATC soap opera Dios se lo Pago that same year.
In 1982, she starred alongside Mexican actor Hector Suarez in Aldo Nicola’s comedy “La Libélula” at the Insurgentes theatre in Mexico City. The actor Carlos Bracho works alongside them.
In 1983, she travelled to Mexico, where she starred in the telenovela Profession: Señora alongside Julio Alemán.
In 1985, she adopted a two-year-old boy to whom she gave her last name. That same year, she once again stars in a soap opera by the writer of Rosa…de lejos, Celia Alcántara, along with Daniel Fanego and Gerardo Romano: Bárbara Narváez.
In 1986, she travelled with her children to Spain and settled in El Escorial to study film direction with Pilar Miró. At that time, she maintained a relationship with the Spanish actor José Sacristán. In 1992, she participated in the film A Place in the World alongside José Sacristán and Cecilia Roth, playing a nun.
In 1995, she returned to Buenos Aires and resumed her film career by filming the film “Lola Mora.”
Another well-remembered role of hers is that of Amanda Jauregui in the strip Padre Coraje (2004), starring Facundo Arana and Nancy Dupláa.
She hosted cultural television programs such as “Querida Leonor” and “Juego de Oppositos” on Canal a. She filmed documentaries such as Cuento para una chica, about Argentine women dedicated to politics and which was presented at the Beijing Women’s Film Festival, China. Her first feature film as a film director was Good Destiny.
During 2011 and the beginning of 2012, he acted in the successful soap opera Herederos de un Vendetta alongside Luciano Castro, Romina Gaetani, Marcela Kloosterboer, Federico Amador, Rodolfo Ranni, Antonio Grimau, Daniel Kuzniecka, Felipe Colombo, Marco Antonio Caponi and Betiana Blum, playing the role of millionaire Regina Piave.
In 2016, she was part of The Rich Don’t Ask for Permission as Bernarda, the Villalba brothers’ aunt.
In 2021, she hosted the documentary Aire!, celebrating 70 years of Argentine television.
The Legislature of the Autonomous City of Buenos Aires recognized her as an Outstanding Personality in the field of Culture in 2022
